Bernard Vonnegut making a silver iodide smoke, as part of experiments to explore cloud-seeding techniques. Silver iodide-acetone solution (in the glass jar with the tubing coming out of it) is being ignited to form the smoke.  This photo was probably taken at the General Electric Research Laboratory; perhaps in 1949 or 1950.
