The Lang Research Group

Welcome to the Lang Research Group page and the site of Prof. Andrea Lopez Lang. The research of our group involves a multiscale perspective of the dynamics of weather systems and troposphere-stratosphere coupling.

Our research intersts include include:

  • Dynamics of cool-season variability on timescales of days to weeks
  • Tropopause and jet dynamics
  • Synoptic processes in troposphere-stratosphere coupling
  • The interaction between weather systems and stratospheric flow
  • Predictability and uncertainty of high-impact weather at subseasonal lead times

We invite you to explore our page. Please visit our People page to learn about our group members and explore our Research page to learn about our current and past projects. Prof. Lang's teaching and course info is avaialble on the Teaching page. We also invite you to browse the Outreach activities and Maps and Links related to our research activities.

  • Midlatitude Variability

Our research focuses on understanding the ways in which the large-scale contributes to variability in midlatitude synoptic-scale weather systems.

  • Troposphere-Stratosphere Coupling

Our research focuses on diagnosing the mechanisms and processes linked to synoptic-scale systems in facilitating troposphere-stratosphere coupling.
