Dynamic Tropopause AnalysesThese analyses of potential temperature on the dynamic tropopause (2 PVU), have been generated from a mixture of the ERA40 dataset (pre-2002) and the operational ECMWF analyses (post-2002) for the period 1982-2005. An analysis is preformed for the first NHC best track entry for each storm identified in the Atlantic basin over this timeframe. The location of the best track position of the storm (given in the plot title) is identified by a tropical storm symbol, regardless of the NHC classification of the system. Animation of Analysis SequenceFoldover Features During TC-GenesisThese analyses of potential temperature on the dynamic tropopause have been generated from the same datasets as those shown above. However, in this case data are provided for the period T-48h to T+12h (where time T is the first NHC best track entry for the storm) over the development period of TCs that have undergone potential interaction with a foldover / dual-trough structure.
