2. Panorama looking WNW from Mazeno Pass (~5400m, away from the central parts of Nanga Parbat - see map). Granite scree in bottom left is weathered off from the locally outcropping Mazeno Pass pluton which crystallised at 1.4 Ma (based upon coincident Th-Pb monazite & U-Pb zircon ages). From here viewer looks across the Jalhari granite belt (>15 km from here) where older Th-Pb monazite ages (3-9 Ma) indicate the spatial & temporal transitions in Nanga Parbat tectonism, younging into the centre of the massif. Peak in distance with two dark horns (follow your eye directly up from furthest tip of the big moraine, or down from the rightmost puffy cloud in the line of clouds) is formed by MMT hanging wall rocks atop the Nashkin ridge. The same peak is obvious in photo (5) showing view west from Airl Gali pass.
