Structural Map of Eastern Margin of Nanga Parbat Massif

This eastern margin is formed by the MMT mylonites in steeply-dipping attitudes. At lower elevations the dips tend to be vertical, but at higher elevations the dips become steeply westward [55º or more] giving a balloon-shape to the local cross-sectional contact geometry. The Churit Fault consists of steeply-dipping brittle fault strands, with west side up displacement, within the Indian cover sequence metapelites.
