62, 63, 64. These three images show plain-light photos of the same fields of view as the previous three. They show marker particles embedded in the wax, from which one can prepare displacement field maps showing the incremental displacements between 62 and 63 and between 63 and 64. Such maps will help one find the answers to the questions above, and another question: Is shear band 2 a SIMPLE SHEAR SHEAR BAND? Or is there lengthening or shortening parallel to the band as displacement occurs across it? (ans)

The features around (60,12) and (90,12) in image 62 are rifts or tears in the wax, induced by prior deformation.

I thank readers who have endured these lengthy notes and put up with my questions (for suggested answers, see following pages). We have made a sort of field trip through deforming materials. As with any field trip, there has been too much to see, and it has been easier to ask questions than to provide answers.
