Climatology of Tornadoes in Appalachians (AP)

Note that the monthly distribution exhibits a secondary peak in November, and begins to increase towards the springtime maximum in February.  Also note that he maxima are more amplified for >=F2 tornadoes.

The diurnal distribution of warm and cool season tornadoes is very similar for AP, with the largest differences occurring between 0200-0800 UTC and 1600-2100 UTC.

The secondary peak of >=F2 tornadoes in AP which occurs in November is very diurnally forced, although there is a weak suggestion that these tornadoes can occur between 0600 and 1800 UTC, during the overnight and early morning hours.
