Climatology of tornadoes in the Ozarks

*Note:  Due to the small area of OZ, these results may be somewhat unrepresentative, given the relatively small number of tornadoes (especially >=F2) that occur in this region when compared to the other sub-domains.

The there is no distinct month in which the cool season peak of tornado occurrence is, but rather there is a broad secondary maximum from November through January.

The diurnal distribution of warm and cool season tornadoes seems to be somewhat influenced by diurnal heating, except that the peak occurs earlier during the cool season (2100-2200 UTC) than during the warm season (0000-0200 UTC).

There is a weak secondary peak visible in November and December, but there does not appear to be a strong nocturnal signal.
