News!

6th DEC 2007 - Plots offline since we are struggling to adapt our code to NCEPs GRIB2 compression. Will bring back online ASAP.

Nov 2007 - Source code for trough/jet diagnostics is available here.

June 2007 - Two new Basin wide fields added: Troughs/Jet at multiple levels (Easterly and Westerly at 925, 700, 500 and 200hPa), plus 925hPa relative vorticity with column precipitable water.

May 2007 - Page has been revamped for the 2007 season! The diagnostic calculations have been tweaked to reduce noise in the GFS plots. I'm currently working on some new plots that I hope will prove useful. If you use this page regularly and have anything that you are itching to see or have any general comments, let me know via email ( gareth@REMOVETHIS.atmos.albany.edu ).

General notes about our diagnostics can be found here, or accessed by clicking on the diagnostic name in the table below. A few examples demonstrating how the diagnostics appear during peak AEW season can be found here.
