High Wind Climatology

For one part of my Master's work I am constructing a "cool-season" (defined as the period between 1 October and 30 April) climatology of high winds for the Eastern United States from 15 October 1993 through 1 Jan 2009. A map of the domain of study can be found here: [LINK]

The following images (and loops) represent the percentage of total days between 15 October 1993 and 31 December 2008 that severe high wind occurred within a 0.5o x 0.5o box surrounding each 0.5o grid point. The loops show how the distributions change from month to month:
