Research

I am researching under the advisement of Lance Bosart and Daniel Keyser as a part of the CSTAR program. I am collaborating with members of the National Weather Service (NWS) here in Albany, NY. My NWS focal points are John Quinlan and Tom Wasula with Kevin Lipton and Hugh Johnson also taking active roles in the project. My research focuses on cool-season high wind events (defined here as October through April) that impact the Northeast US defined here. The goal of this research is to understand: (1) the climatological frequency of high wind reports (from NCDC storm data) and events, (2) determine the large-scale flow regimes associated with different types of high wind events, and (3) through case study work, identify specific mesoscale features that are common to high wind events.
