Can start taking cards anytime during game. However ONCE STOP GETTING CARDS CANNOT RESTART.(IE. YOUR HAND IS SET!).Game ends when nobody takes any cards. Bid after each round of 'hits'. Busted if over 27. 6.5 beats 7.5. Declare high/low at the end. Ante in. ANACONDA(H/L split): Deal 7 cards. Dealer decides how to pass the cards, e.g., pass 1/2/3 cards to 1/2/3 persons to you right. Once all passes are made select your 5 card hand arranging cards face down in strategic order. Bid after each card is turned up. Best/worst poker hands split. (ie. worst is A2346). High/low splits. Ante in. VARIATION: Junkyard Dog: All undealt cards and all cards discarded before the first exposure are placed face-down in a pile. At the end of the game, these cards are exposed, and the best five card high hand is constructed from these cards. This is the Junkyard Dog. If the hand of winner of the high half of the pot does not beat the Junkyard Dog, that half of the pot remains on the table, and a new game of Anaconda is played. AUCTION(H/L split): 5 cards apiece and 3 cards face down in the middle. Flip one card at a time and auction until no bidding. After all 3 cards have been bid out declare high/low. Winners split the money. No ante. BASEBALL: Deal 7 cards face-down. Players flip the cards until they beat the current high hand. 3 and 9 can be wild after paying a nickel to the pot. Black 4 worth an extra card after paying a nickel. Red 4 kills your game. High hand takes all. Peeping costs a quarter. Ante in. BETWEEN THE SHEETS: Deal 2 cards face-up in the middle and bet(or pass)whether the third card number is between the two. Need to 1st win a nickel before you can bid for any amount up to pot. If you tie one of the end cards you lose double your bet. First ace needs to declare high/low. Second ace is always high. Game ends when pot has no cash. Ante in. BUY-A-CARD(H/L split): Deal one card to each player and put two cards face up in the middle with the rest of the deck face down next to them. 1st up-card is worth 5 cents, the 2nd face-up card=10 cents + a face-down card=15 cents. Players buy a card until they have five cards. If cards bought face-up(down) then keep them up(down). After 5th card, players have a choice to get rid of one card then buy a new card. Declare high-low and winners split the money. Ante in. (Schultz's Rule: "Better to buy a bad hand cheap than a good hand expensively".) DIRTY SCHULTZ: Deal two cards down and one up to each player. As in 7 card stud, with the following changes. Whenever a natural pair is dealt up to a player, the next card in the deck is dealt up in the center as a marker. All cards with the same rank of the marker are wild. If another pair is later dealt up, the next card from the deck replaces the marker, which means that, in all probability, the wild card will change. Each player's seventh card is dealt up. However, a player may pay a preset amount and have their seventh card dealt down, thereby decreasing the chance that the wild card marker will change. FIVE-CARD DRAW: Deal 5 cards face-down then start to bid. Then each player may trade up to 3 cards with the deck(or 4 cards if you have an ace). Bid again after everyone exchanges cards. High hand takes all. Ante in. Addendum to Poker Thesis: Dave Schultz 2/26/96 VARIATION on FIVE CARD DRAW: Play regular Five Card Draw then place cards in strategic order and "burn" them back. FIVE CARD STUD: Deal one down, one up to each player. Bet. Deal one card up to each player. Bet. Continue alternating up cards and bets until each player has five cards. Bet. VARIATIONS High-Low Split. Fifth card dealt down. Pistol Stud: Add a bet between down card and first up card. Puff and Sluff Players have the option of keeping the first up card dealt to them, or paying a fee to the pot and passing the card to the next player. Passing player must accept the second card dealt from the deck. Players who receive a passed card also have the option of keeping it or passing it for a fee. If a card is passed by the last remaining player, it is discarded. After a declare and a final bet, pot is split high low. FOLLOW THE QUEEN: Deal is similar to 7-card stud.(ie. Start with two cards face-down one up. Bid after every card. The next 3 cards are also face up. If any face-up card is a Queen, then the type of card following is wild. (ie. if a 7H is next ALL 7's are wild). If another Queen turns up then a new card is wild. If last upcard is a Queen, then nothing is wild. Last card is face down. High hand takes all. Ante in. Deal:(2 down;4-up;1 down) Variation: Spinner, if a queen turns up the next card is turned up in the MIDDLE and is wild, then deal cards normally. This way person following the queen is not guaranteed a wildcard and eliminate problem when last up card is a queen. LOW HOLE: 7-card stud, low *hole card* (and all like it in your hand) is wild. This can be a really interesting game because the last card is dealt down so the wildcard may change.(If you're counting on your 4 in the hole plus your 4 up on the table as being wild, and you get dealt a down 2...you're screwed!) High hand takes all. Ante in. Deal:(2 down;4-up;1 down) HIGH-LOW CHICAGO WITH (OR W/O) MAMBO: (7-card stud deal). Deal 7 cards with 2 face-down and 4 up. Bid at each round. The 7th card can be faced up or down. If Spade queen is turned up kills the game, everyone re-antes and the deal is started over. High poker hand and low spade (has to be face down). split the pot. Ante in.(NOTE: IF YOU FOLD YOU CANNOT RE-ENTER THE GAME EVEN IF MAMBO TURNS UP TO RESTART THE GAME). GUTS: Start with 2 cards face-down. Dealer announces 1-2-3 and plays decide whether to put their hands in the middle to compete with others for the pot. Winner takes the pot and loser(s) match the current pot.(Max replacement is usually 50cents). If a player does not "go in" he has a free ride. If nobody goes in then all re-ante. Dealer gives everyone a 3rd card and the process continues. This is done until everyone has 5 cards. If more than one person goes in with 5 cards then losers replace pot + game restarts w/ 2 new cards. Game ends when only one person goes in with 5 cards. Ante in. JACKS OR BETTER: Deal 5 cards apiece. Need to have a poker hand at of least a pair of Jacks or better to open. If nobody can open, redeal and ante again. After the game starts, plays like 5 card draw. Need to at least have 3 of a kind to win the game. Anti in. MONOSTACK (Alias: Screw Your Neighbor, Screw the China Man, Screw the American) 1 card face-down. Players have an option to switch the card with the neighbor to their left. Person(s) who has the lowest card value loses one stack into the pot. Ace is lowest and King prevents a trade. (Have to flip over) Dealer has the option of trading with the deck. If their is a tie for the lowest card then both players lose. You are out when you have no more stacks.(How- ever, a free round (grace) may be issued by the dealer at the beginning of the game). The last person with a stack wins pot. Grace is optional. Playing hint, if someone trades with you and you give him a lower card than he gives you do not trade anymore... PIG(H/L split): Deal 5 cards face-down per person. Dealer will then flips over 5 different cards 1 card at a time and if any player has that type of card in their hand they throw it out in front of them. After 5th card, players add up total value of their cards left in their hand. Face cards are 10 pts and aces can be 1 or 11. 2 - 10 are face values. Highest and lowest totals split the pot. Declare high/low. Ante in. SPIT IN THE OCEAN: Deal four cards down to each player, one card up in the middle. As in five card draw, but each player receives only four down cards. While the dealer is dealing these four cards, someone has to say "spit," which causes the dealer to throw the next card face up into the middle of the table. The card in the middle is shared by all players and, along with all other cards of the same rank, is wild. Therefore, if the spit card is a six, all sixes are wild. THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY: Deal two cards down and one up to each player, and three down in the center of the table. Deal like seven card stud. After each player has four cards, dealer immediately flips the first of the three table cards. This is The Good, and is all cards of the same rank are deemed wild. After each player has five cards, dealer immediately flips the second table card. This is The Bad, and all cards of the same rank up or down must be discarded. If the Bad is the same rank as the Good, there is no Good, and all cards of that rank are deemed Bad. After each player has six cards, dealer immediately flips the last table card. This is The Ugly, and anyone who has an up card of the same rank must fold. Center cards are not shared; they merely serve as markers.
