Tropical Cyclone Eyewall Mesovortices

As a recipient of the NOAA Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship, I worked at the Hurricane Research Division (HRD) during the summer of 2013 with Dr. Sim Aberson to perform a case study of eyewall mesovortices in Hurricane Fabian (2003).

Research Details

Description: The Hurricane Weather Research and Forecasting (HWRF) Ensemble Data Assimilation System (HEDAS) was used to study the dynamic and thermodynamic evolution of Fabian's eyewall in an attempt to relate the transition of the eyewall from circular to triangular to potential mesovortices present.

Presenting initial results at the 13th Annual AMS Student Conference Poster Session.
