Objects on the SUNYA podium near
the Earth Science building; art?

Rusty welded steel art object under the magnolias by the Earth
Science building. Candidate for the world record size in discarded
tuna cans.

Stainless steel welded object near the SUNYA Biology building.
Both of the objects above have been in place since the early 1980's.
They just sit there, ignored by almost all who pass by. Are they
art? Or just obstacles?
Speaking of which, nearby....

for a number of years (photo taken in 2007) , pipes of the former
ventilation system to the underground physics accelerator
were to be seen close to the main walkway from the State Quad
parking area to the Earth Science corner of the podium.
These were later removed, but are these not also just as much art?
They even once had a useful function!
