What replaced a Pinebush dune and the
last original pinewoods - University at Albany uptown campus

("Empire Commons" - new dormitory accomodation, and more parking lots,
of course). The trees and the dune they covered were destroyed across
the whole site; they used to provide a significant windbreak for the
north side of
the whole campus, and screening from the traffic roar from I-90,
Washington Avenue and Fuller Road.
Yes, this is also built on sand.
