Regional geological setting of the Nanga Parbat-Haramosh massif [NPHM]

The NPHM forms a prominent reentrant in the Main Mantle Thrust [MMT], the structure that places the Kohistan-Ladakh island arc suite over the Indian continent cover metasediments and basement. The NPHM defines a portion of the western syntaxis [abrupt bend] of the Himalaya.
