A few locally-generated Geological "Howlers" - amusing  answers from undergraduate exams at Albany.

"After the deposition of the Schenectady Formation, the sea drained."
(And just where is the drain plug located?)

"The overlying Devonian rocks were laid by an advancing shoreline"

"Neutron logs measure the abundance of hydrogen atoms in formations. This is measured by lowering high energy fast neutrons in the sonde."
(Careful not to spill those neutrons)

A much more extended collection - Geological Howlers, Keele University, UK
