Vacancy: Postdoctoral Position in South American (Paleo-)climate at the University at Albany (SUNY)
A fully funded Postdoctoral Position is available in the research group of Prof. Mathias Vuille in the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (DAES) at the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY).
The position is open to any scientist with experience in either (1) South American climate variability and change, (2) South American paleoclimate reconstruction using proxies, data assimilation or climate models (including, but not limited to, isotope-enabled models), 3) Andean glacier-climate interactions, or 4) regional climate modeling. The successful applicant is expected to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to international outreach and education efforts. More information on our research group is available at:

The successful candidate will have (1) a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (climate dynamics, climate modeling, paleoclimate); (2) strong computational, statistical and programming skills; (3) ability to work independently; (4) good communication and collaboration skills; (5) willingness to contribute to outreach, student mentoring and educational activities.
The position is initially for 1 year, but renewable for an additional 2 years. Review of applicants will begin 1. June 2025, but the position will remain open until filled. Preferred start date is 1. September 2025.
