photo of Taury SmithMy primary research interest is in integrated carbonate reservoir characterization.  I use sequence stratigraphy, petrography, geochemistry, log and seismic analysis and other techniques to better understand oil and gas reservoirs of New York and around the world.  Most of my current research is focused on better understanding hydrothermal processes and the impact of hydrothermal alteration on the formation and enhancement of oil and gas reservoirs. I am also interested in using stratigraphy to better understand local tectonics and global climate change.
