A Monsoon Disturbance Genesis Index

As an undergraduate at Yale, I worked with Dr. William Boos to create a statistically-based genesis index for monsoon disturbances. After graduating, we refined our genesis index by collaborating with Dr. Suzana Camargo and Dr. Michael Tippett.

Research Details

Description: This work explores how the spatial distribution and seasonal cycle of monsoon disturbance genesis can be represented by a genesis index based on monthly climatologies of four objectively chosen variables: total column water vapor, low-level absolute vorticity, an approximate measure of convective available potential energy (ECAPE), and mid-level relative humidity.
